Quest Hints/Clues

Occasionally, the Quest Master throws out a quest that seems to be harmless and easy, to all outward appearances. These are specific quests that turn out to be difficult for one reason or another (the mob is unusually hard to find, or the mob is actually in a different part of the mud than what you would expect.) Below I have a small list of some of the "stubborn" quests, as well as their solutions. Please feel free to Email Me if you have any quests you would like to add to this list, or email me if you have had trouble with any other quests that aren't listed here. Check this page frequently... I love questing, and I will post as many of these as I can as I encounter them (or as I remember them).

The daughter in Story Book Land:
This is a great one. Most people, when they get into Story Book Land, type "where" and the Miller's Daughter shows up. OK. Seems straight forward enough. But after killing the Miller's Daughter, the target is still not dead. What's up?? The answer is, there is a second Daughter that can be found later on. To get to the second Daughter, choose any of the paths of Story Book Land. Travel to the end (the Pond Room). Open the down exit there, and go down. There is an aggressive mob below, so be aware. Now, go 1 north to another aggressive mob (Tunnel or Lair Guardian, I forget which). Open the down exit there, and go down, and TADA, the second Daughter. Make sure you kill her first before you try going north (you can't go back south to her, it's a one-way exit). Once dead, and you see that she really was your quest target, go north, and you are back to the beginning of Story Book Land. The quick way out is to go north to the "hole" room, enter the "hole", and recall (you can't recall from anywhere else in Story Book Land). If you miss that room, you have to go to the Pond room and enter the pond to leave.

The drow scout in Drow City:
THIS one is a real pain in the rear-end!!! I spent many hours scouring through the Drow City, which is through the Tunnels of Yoegh'il'rymmin, to no avail. I killed every single mob I could find, even in the Tunnels (because sometimes a mob goes in between areas). Still nothing. Note, there are many "drow scout leaders" in the Tunnels. These are not the right mob. Finally, I remembered that sometimes areas on Netherworld are not always connected contiguously, due to the way the mud has expanded. Sure enough, with enough diligence, I was able to find a hidden "drow scout" in the forest before Old Thalos. The best way to get there is to go to the Adreyatic ocean near Gloucester, follow the coast south until you can go east, and there is a wooded path you can follow. Go eastish and southish a few rooms, and you will find the "Dwarf Forest". Wander around in there with detect hidden, and you should be good to go.
Update! - I have been informed by the Imm Staff that this quest mob has been removed from the Quest Master's list, so this guy should no-longer plague us.

Myconoid Shaman/Myconoid in Great Eastern Desert:
This one is much easier than it sounds. It is another example of disjointed areas. To find the Myconoids, go south from the levee, and all east, and the Myconoids wander in those caverns. If you are evil, be VERY careful here, because there are some very evil easy mobs that can make you neutral or good very quickly.

A lamia in Thalos or Old Thalos:
When I first started playing, no-one seemed to be aware of where Old Thalos was. New Thalos was widely known to be through the Holy Grove south of Midgaard. And you can find many "pet lamia"'s there, but those don't give you the target message when you kill them. So, I set off to find Old Thalos. I did this by having someone trans me there (it is a gate2 and transable area). I walked backwards out of the area, and found that it was very close to the east coast of the Adreyatic Ocean, just south of Gloucester. As explained in one of the quests above, simply get to the Adreyatic Ocea, and follow the east coast down from Gloucester. It is the next "east" you can take south past the section with the "sign" near Gloucester. Follow that path a few east, a few south, and look for "Dwarf Forest" as the room titles. Go south and west, and you should find yourself in Old Thalos.

A Pirate on the Adreyatic Ocean:
It seems like whenever I want to find a Pirate on the Ocean, I never can. And when I do find them, they aren't the right ones. There are two groups of Pirates on the Adreyatic. To find them, go west from Gloucester without being invis, and wander in that general area. They are not very far west, so you should'nt have to wander long. They Adreyatic Ocean is NOT a maze...just very large and repetitive, as most oceans are. So just be patient, and methodical, and you will find whatever you are looking for on the Adreyatic. (Note: Dropping coins in the ocean to remember where you have been will not work. The coins drop into the ocean. But, if you have create food, the mushrooms seem to "float" where you create them. Don't pick them up and then drop them though, because they will disappear. Just leave them where you create them :))

Ogre Villager/Warrior/Shaman in Mahn-Tor:
Mahn-Tor is a very large area, un-beknownst to most people. The Ogre Village is also part of Mahn-Tor, but it is not exactly close by to the actual Keep of Mahn-Tor istelf (found by wandering in the blizzard in the south-west corner of the Karachian Sea). To get to the Ogre Village, follow these approximate directions. From Midgaard, go to Ashungar (es4en2en2es3enenen from the Oustide the East Gate). Then go to the "Bay of Ashungar" (5n2e5n5e from the end of the previous set of directions). From the Bay, go (13sw). This will bring you to The Edge of the Sea, where if you go 1 more west and south, you enter the maze to go to the Keep. Instead, go (nu2nwnen4ese) to the Mist Maze. Wander this maze until you find the swamp wraith. If it is daylight, you should see The Solid Path as an exit. If not, I believe you can go north from the wraith and you are on the right path to the Village. From there, simply keep going north until you run into the village.
